Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Platform T-Straps

Mary Kate Olsen.jpg
I went to Bergdorf Goodman yesterday where two wonderful things happened. One, to my pleasant surprise they have racks and racks of clothes and shoes that are already marked down as much as 60% and two I came across Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Platform T-Straps ($995). They come in an array for colors including a pair in fluorescent yellow which look very fun in a Giambattista Valli-like way -- anyone else love Mary-Kate Olsen in those neon pink platforms from all those months ago (pictured above)?! I tried on two pairs of the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Platform T-Straps yesterday -- a pair of black suede woven leather ones with gold leather piping like the purple ones pictured above and the leather fluorescent yellow ones. The heel is very, very high -- over 5 inches -- which would be fine if the shoes themselves were more comfortable. Unfortunately they're rather hard and I could tell, given how much I always end-up walking, that if I wore them out I'd probably be left with a few red marks from the straps cutting into my feet. That said, given the heel these shoes are clearly not meant for walking and for a dinner-party or anything that doesn't entail too much moving around -- I absolutely love these! Also given the choice, the suede ones are more comfy than the purely leather pairs.

Louis Vuitton Strikes Gold

Graphic wedge cross sandal- approx: $785

lvgoldsandals.jpgMy gold obsession continues with these wedges from Louis Vuitton. We haven't always loved its bags but its shoes and ready to wear always find their way to my closet each season! The style on the left is the graphic wedge cross, it's delicate and sexy with a not so hidden stiletto inside the wedge-- genius! They don't look that comfortable but sometimes you have to choose form over functionality!

The Futuristic wedge in gold below left is beyond cool, it's something you'd pull on and look fabulous without even trying. It's called Futuristic but to me it has a retro '60s mod vibe to it. HOT!

I am not as crazy for the Graphic Wedge ankle sandals below right, it has too many straps going on but still, it has that cool heel. Wedges usually look cumbersome but having the stiletto peeking out behind the gold bars lightens it up!  Which one do you like?

All at Louis Vuitton.

Valentino Gladiator Sandals

valentinogladiator.jpgI've always maintained that I am not a flats girl, but looking at these gladiator sandals from Valentino is giving me second thoughts. Thoughts such as.... I should embrace my petiteness! I mean, even in 4 inch platforms I am not really fooling anyone am I? I just like the way platforms make me feel. But I imagine I will also like the way these sexy sandals make me feel. Imagine running around with a floaty summer dress in these sandals.... or a pair of skinny pants/leggings. They will spice up any resort/summer outfit!

I've always found gladiator sandals masculine but this pair has thinner, more feminine straps plus it's embellished in gray crystals! $795 at Neiman Marcus.
