Sofia Coppola Capsule Louis Vuitton Collection- Snob or Slob?

Photos from WWD.
I'm a little horrified by these pictures that were in WWD! Director and Marc Jacobs muse Sophia Coppola has designed a capsule collection of handbags and shoes for Louis Vuitton that will hit stores in March. As of yet the results are not only disappointing, but seem completely uninspired and is it just me or do those tacky gold shoes just scream Payless!?

What do you guys think? Snob or Slob?

Frugal Snob - Evening Look for Less

Holiday party season is upon us and it is time to wisely plan our party wardrobe. Let's start with the basic LBD, the Gap has a fab little knit strapless number ($68) that you can merchandise up with the proper accessories to look fabulous. First, the ribbon necklace with black resin beads; it's a chic alternative to pearls and will be one of your favorite accessories this holiday! Plus it's only $29,which is like almost free, right?!?!!

With all the money you've saved, you must splurge on a proper pair of evening shoes and bag-- these are accessories you will wear time and again so they'll be worth the cost! I love these Giuseppe Zanotti Embellished heel pumps and of course you'll need a proper evening clutch, since the outfit is all black, I'd go for a pop of color. Michael Kors has the cutest purple satin bow clutch to complete your look. $360 at Net-a-porter.com

Runway Trend Alert: Zipper Detailing!

We recently discovered that for Spring 2009. It's chic to have your zipper out (not down, mind you). From zipper detailing that resembles pleating to blatant down the front or down the back exposed zippers it's in to reveal, not conceal. You can choose faux or functional, but most importantly: forget the invisible zipper and go for a zipper with thick, metal teeth that walks the fine line between punky, edgy, and just plain fabulous. We first spotted the zipper sensation at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show(below), executed so artfully that we had to do a double-take before we realized that the draped, ruffled effect was really lined with zippers! Next up the Proenza Schouler (above) boys sent down the runway a concentration of exposed, center-zippered garments from jumpsuits to dresses and skirts. Our absolute favorite was this look that combined a cropped sleeveless leather-like vest with a minty, parachute material skirt; adorned, of course, with an in-your-face zipper down the front! Accessories also partook in the trend, like these amazing bootie/peep-toe/pump hybrids at BCBGMAXAZRIA (below) and the oversized carry all at Alexander Wang.

No runway trend is complete, however, without us finding some items that will most certainly help you get the look for extremely less. (Jump for our Luxe to Less options!)

Snob Look of the Week: Jaime King

Who knew the Hermes Collier de Chien belt would look so fabulous on a floaty dress from Stella McCartney?  I love the juxtaposition of the two looks, one tough and kinky, the other soft and wispy.  So unexpected and so sexy!

Jaime King is not known for subtlety-- the blonde bombshell is more likely to be on the cover of Maxim magazine in a see through wet t-shirt than on the cover of Vogue but in this well put together outfit, she is totally snob-u-lous!  You can pull this look off easily as well; the Hermes Collier de Chien belt at Hermes for $1550, Stella McCartney Velvet clutch$695 at Net-a-Porter.com, and Stella McCartney Chiffon jacquard dress $2,895 at Net-a-porter.com
